While visiting the Lasqueti Island Hotel, we encourage our visitors to take in the abundance of community events to get a true taste of the culture and beauty of our island.
Lasqueti Island lies in the Georgia Strait of the BC Pacific ocean, just north of French Creek (on Vancouver Island) and southwest of Texada Island.
It is approximately 8 KM wide by 22 KM long.
It is only accessible by passenger ferry, private boat or floatplane.
Roadways are unpaved and there is no public transportation.
With no waste services, Lasqueti Island is a pack-out-what-you-pack-in community.
Camping on the island is prohibited.
Lasqueti Island is home to approximately 350 residents.
There are no electricity services so only alternative power sources are used.
Squitty Bay Provincial Park
Located 9 miles (15 km) south of the ferry dock, this day-use area is perfect for swimming and picnics.
Picnic tables sit among the Douglas fir trees which overlooks two narrow ocean coves.
Lasqueti Market on Saturdays
10am – 1pm
Don’t miss the Lasqueti Market, every Saturday from June to September.
The market is a great place to get local organic produce, fresh baking, flowers, artwork, crafted items, clothing and more. This is where community happens.
Arts at Lasqueti Island Community Hall
July 3 & 4, 2020
For over 20 years, this 2-day all-ages event has featured a collection of local art work, poetry reading, story telling, live bands, dancing and games.
Friday & Saturday events are held at the Lasqueti Island Community Hall.
Every year Lasqueti Island celebrates it’s volunteer Firefighters and First Responders with a grand picnic.
This popular family event hosts food, fun, music and much more!
The day before the event, community members gather to clean freshly caught salmon, which is donated each year.
A fun-filled day to celebrate all that is Lasqueti Island, including a parade and Silly Boat Race.
The Lasqueti Dayz Parade starts at the Tea Pot House.at 12 PM, and highlights all facets of Lasqueti Island including a marching band, fire truck costumes and more.
Then take part in the Silly Boat Race at False Bay Harbour at 1:30 PM. The only rule is your boat must be handmade with materials you have on hand!
A live band finishes up the day on the patio at Lasqueti Island Hotel from 4-8 PM.
